BAND PRACTICE MONDAY / SHOW CANCELLATION PENDING

thanks to action jackson and marshall and their inability to find time for band practice, the show on monday is probably going to be canceled due to improper preparation. however, we will still have band practice all day monday to make up for the loss of time on wednesday, thursday, and friday. we can't have it at my house, so there is no longer reason to find a way to move the drums. also, the town has still not replied to my request for a sound permit, so if we do end up doing the show, then we'll have to do it somewhere else besides my house. jack's garage probably won't work either unless we use jack's drum mutes and turn the volume down.

the recordings are done! we will be paying for them tomorrow at school when we recieve them. however, the cost is a bit more than we expected. the total fee is $55. i have twenty, jack may or may not have twenty, but everyone has to pay 14 dollars. i'm assuming marshall will not be able to pay tomorrow, so he can just owe the rest of us money. but danny, you have hundreds of dollars stashed up in your room. so, if we want the recording, you should bring $30 tomorrow. just in case jack can't get his out of his debit card. don't worry, though. jack and marshall have NOT agreed to pay intrest if you so desire.

Guess what jack, that was the first and last time that you organize one of our shows all by yourself. that was basically just a failure of a band practice that a few people came to watch. next time, danny and i are doing all the gig organization/advertisement.

We are playing a show at my house at the end of that five day weekend. i'm already requesting a sound permit and everything. this will just be a show for the parents so they give us money and so that they can finally hear us play.

after this semi-show, we WILL be playing at the next warming house concert. i'm going to contact them sometime this week to sign us up.

we also have been requested to play at some halloween party or something. i don't know the details but we're doing it.

once we get some experience from the warming house shows and etc.., we will also play at Bill's Blues Bar in Evanston. that will probably be the first shows that we get paid to do. from there, we can play wherever.

and yes, one of our ten songs to play for the parents will be hang on, so deal with it marshall.

well, today's band practice was fairly successful. we worked out most of poisoned cryogenics and the new parts to esculence, along with some lyrics. Joe came and contributed a riff that he came up with that instantly became the song, chosen but rejected, a stonerific sludge piece.

so tomorrow, band practice is delayed by marshall and jack's "double-date happy time" with emily and hannah. if we can't have band practice start at 12, then how about we meet halfway and have it at two. you can bring along your lady friends, and that way they would only be around for an hour. they can have an exclusive preview of what will be played at the show on saturday. i will try to make my parents let me stay later, but i'm pretty sure that they're going to cut it off at six whether i like it or not...

that recording session was totally kickass. to any fans that regularly visit our blog: our first demo will be out within like three weeks.

also, we have a show coming up at whatever party is being hosted at emmy brown's house after/during homecoming. we currently do not know the details, but once we do, they will be posted on the blog and on facebook and whatever else we have.

so, from what i've heard so far, the two earliest possible dates are this sunday (if we get back from the canoe trip early), or next friday. On that next friday, danny is leaving on some sort of family vacation, so we would need to wrap it up before like 6:30. But, if we start immediately after school, we should be able to get something done. If we get back from the canoe trip early, then we will have that whole day on sunday.

also, devin has agreed to the mixing and vocals being done at soundtracks. he also says that he could do drums there if we can't get good quality at acjack's. at soundtracks, there is already a drumkit, and we can mic each individual piece with a high-quality mic.

on another note, that mtg tournament that gregg is hosting is going on this friday after school. because its a late start, we should have plenty of time before we leave for canoeing.

Current cottage trip details

okay, heres a list of basic details that you will probably want to know so that you can tell your parents when you ask

we are leaving at 7:00 PM on friday from my house. try to get there around 6:30. we are NOT picking ANYONE up from their houses.

we will arrive back home on monday at roughly 4-5 o'clock. we'll probably do it like a boy scout thing where we drop you off at your house with your crap.

there will be two cars:

1 - a pacifica

it will hold my dad, my sister, gus, and THREE of you. you will watch a movie in this car so that you don't bother my dad or my sister. this car will hold a miniscule amount of luggage. or you could hold stuff in your laps.

2 - an old minivan, i don't know exactly what it is (the car we're borrowing from my grandparents)

it will hold me, my mom, and FIVE of you guys. in this car we'll just talk and stuff. no swearing or anything inappropriate, though because my mom will be able to hear everything you say. this car will also be able to hold a good amount of luggage. i think... i don't exactly remember the specs of it.

so, if you want, you can call dibs on what car you want to be in on the blog, otherwise, you'll have to fight it out in my driveway.

okay guys, i just went through the whole process of buying the tickets without actually buying them, and it turns out that, because of the online convenience charge and whatnot, the tickets are actually 35 dollars each. so, just wanted to let you know before its too late.

the entire cost is 140 dollars and i only have like 70 dollars on my card right now, so i'm gonna need at least two peoples money asap. i already got most of danny, so marshall, if you could give me yours soon, we can order them before jack even gets back. with the most minimal no-expense shipping, the tickets should arrive in like 10 days.

Nick and I went to it. We missed Ohmission except for the second half of their last song. They were good and missing them sucked. The second band was the worst band in the history of ever. Their name will not be mentioned, unless they all die. The third band was pretty decent, but wasn't metal. Catalyst was amazing. I would embellish, but I would fail to do them justice.

Edit: The second band sucked so much they drove off more than half the crowd. There was no mosh for Catalyst, because everyone had left.

ok, despite the fact that this goes against my will, i was running with Billy Rivi today during XC and he asked me if Sociopathica had a Myspace. I told him we didn't have a Myspace but we did have a Facebook. he told me that a Myspace would help grow a fanbase regardless of wether we had recordings. the whole idea seems messed up to me but if that's how a metalhead's thought process goes, why the hell not get a myspace for the band?

okay, did we say that we would have band practice on monday and wednesday? if so, how about we work on thrashed by the belt on monday, as well as playing through caress the dead and i am ahab, and then unsightly on wednesday. if we basically do what we did today on both those days, we should be able to finish both songs.

hopefully, by the end of wednesday, we'll be able to play all four songs in a row. maybe, if we write a couple more songs while jack's gone, we'd be able to put on a gig. we could play at the warming house, whenever the first concert is. we only need like four songs to play there anyways. we also need to enter in band-aid.

i just finished modding my vendetta. i put the gibson dirty fingers on it, and i put a series/parallel switch and a phaser switch. it gives my guitar a much larger tonal possibility range. the dean pickup and dirty fingers mixed together sounds pretty frickin' sweet.

I just finished writing another new song. well, except for the lyrics. i do have a complete guitar part and bass part though. i'll tab it out on the computer and put it on google docs. its not as intense as thrashed by the belt, but it sounds pretty ghostly, and in some placed it sounds like a mixed pantera/metallica song.

Okay, i made the name of it "thrashed by the belt" from marshall's list, and its pretty frikin' awesome. Definitely the best song i've written so far.

i have a tab with the guitar part on it and the song order, and i'm working on tabbing out the bass part.

lyric-wise, i only have a chorus, but if we want, we could go the mastodon way and leave it. but i'm still going to write some more.
